one thing i love in life is free things. frugal things. the dollar store. bargain hunting.
i got these electrical spools out of the dumpster at a fancy shopping center. i was not embarrassed one bit as the fancy ladies walked by. and layne was like, mommy, why are you getting in the trash.
there are treasures in the trash, buddy!
outdoor tables perhaps? we'll see...
anyway, all that to say, when i saw that minted was offering $50 of credit from now until sunday, i was all....people are making Christmas cards and they must know about this magic! i put an exclamation point on the end of that because it does, truly make me excited. free things and cute christmas cards. do you need anything else this season? yes...ok...you need Jesus. don't get sunday school on me right now.
teasing, guys.
so you'll need to make an account, which gives you $25 of credit.
and then you'll need to enter HOL25SHIP at checkout to get an extra $25 credit and FREE SHIPPING!!! blaaaaaaaaaa. i feel like oprah. you get some free cards...YOU get some free cards...YOU GET some free CARDS! (in my head, i'm pointing at you and you're going crazy in the crowd).
you'll have to do this quickly because it ends on sunday. or if you're like, we haven't even taken christmas card pictures...today, take a picture using your camera timer and slap it on there. or make thankyou cards or something. or get the grandparents a custom calendar with pictures you have already. so cute.
or custom wall art. dude. christmas gifts couldn't be cuter or more personal this year as you give meaningful gifts to the extended family.
and no, minted did not pay me to write this. i am just truly loving a good bargain and wanted to share.
*someone is telling me that the extra $25 code isn't working?! ok and i just found out it's only for holiday cards. their custom wall art and calendars are still adorable...but the extra $25 code will only work on the cards.
I'm planning on making my own cards, but I was SO TEMPTED to get the map one you picked out! Love it.
ReplyDeletehow can you say no to free?? at least get some cute stationary or calendars or wall art?
DeleteTHANK YOU for this! Totally going WILD in the crowd! High fives, hugs, and cocoa cheers all around! Now, after almost three months of marriage AND being on a newlywed budget, we can still have Christmas cards! WOO.
ReplyDeleteLoving you, Jami Nato. Loving you.
Love,
Jessica Thornton!
that's exactly the response i was looking for. ahahahahaa. glad someone gets as pumped about it as me.
DeleteCan we exchange cards/be pen pals?!
Deletehow many cards do you get?
ReplyDeletethey are all different prices. you're budget is $50...do what you can with that!
Deletehow rad is that!?
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteOh, some fun custom wall art might be worth making an account with Minted! Which, incidentally, is one of my biggest pet peeves about online shopping. ;)
ReplyDeleteit is kind of annoying. i don;t give them my real email address though.
DeleteI signed up and don't see a $25 credit....hmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteit's under your name in your account on the upper right side. :)
DeleteVery cute cards, too.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten better, but I'm still not great about seeing the potential in other people's trash. Working on it, though.
see i would have pegged you as a dumpster diver!
DeleteLove Minted and the best news? You can purchase your card and upload your pic later. :)
ReplyDeleteboom. so smart. did the coupon code work for you? someone is telling me it didnt work for them. but the site says the deal is still going...hmm

Deleteamazeballs. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletealso, that was me. not my husband. hahaha.
ReplyDeleteall my best friends dumpster dive. at this point it's pretty much a prerequisite. true story. i'm seriously battling covetousness over your free spools. well done. :)

cuuuuuuute idea!
DeleteHey there:). I'm not trying to be a party pooper-I like free stuff too-but i'm having issues with the promo code. I got the 25 for signing up, but i can't get the other code to work.
ReplyDeleteAny suggestions?
the site says the deal is still going. i wonder what isn't working?! make sure you are entering the coupon code correctly in all caps.
Deleteemma B just said: I just tried the code and it said invalid, so I read the details and it requires the purchase of holiday cards. I was trying to check out with 3 journals. :( But you can buy cards now, and edit them later if you don't have a photo ready (which is pretty awesome of them to do)!
Deletei tried this and it says the coupon code is invalid. whomp whomp. bummer man.
ReplyDeletethe site says the deal is still going. i wonder what isn't working?! make sure you are entering the coupon code correctly in all caps? or you can always call them and ask them to manually do it for you? it might be worth the trouble!

Deletethanks, i updated the blog with that information! you're awesome.
Deleteemma, how do you buy them now and edit later??
DeleteI didn't actually buy now for later, but here is their page explaining the process:

Code isn't invalid! it just MUST be used on holiday cards and you must select ground shipping.... ;) I livechatted a rep yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThat was going to be my next question. Thanks for getting the 411.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jami!!! Got $50 off my Christmas cards this afternoon. I wasn't going to do them this year - I know, I know it's a serious sin. But I was going to save my dollars to do awesome baby announcements in March. I couldn't pass up the $50 off though! So yay for Christmas cards for the Comptons :)
ReplyDeletedarn.. the offer is not vaild anymore.. per minted.com
ReplyDeleteWe have experienced significant abuse of our refer-a-friend/sign up program this weekend, which has necessitated us to discontinued this service for the time being
you can still receive the $25 off with free shipping
All active promos here: http://www.minted.com/minted-coupon-codes
huge bummer! i'm sorry everyone. it was good while it lasted. some of you got a great deal though! it pays to be fast. i still really love this company and what they have to offer. the quality is unbeatable and the designs are super adorable.
DeleteBummed! Didn't get them in time. Sad it went from Mint green to Grinch green in a snap!
ReplyDeleteThanks anyway! You rock my life!
Jessica Thornton
(posted from my husband's computer!)
they still give you the $25 off with free shipping if you're interested. :( why does this make me so sad?! lol. oh deals.
DeleteI'm pretty sure you can still refer friends, but the minimum order is $100 now instead of $50. Good thing I went crazy and made a way too expensive Christmas card! Still cheaper than getting it on any other site, though! Thanks for the info, Jami! :)
DeleteWhat?!?! So I'm excited about minted but not too excited bc my sister makes my cards and shed disown me if I bought them elsewhere (free or not) but what I'm more excited about is that you live in KC! Who knew?! Not me. Anyway that is so fun bc we live so close to KC and fly on and out of there bc it's cheaper than here and and and I'm blabbering. So fun!
ReplyDeleteok - lemmee start by telling you i found your blog last night and am now reading backwards through your life. :) i can ssoooo identify with your thoughts on Christmas and on your childhood of "less" and your children's childhood of "so much" - we are there, too, and i'm inspired by your actions. NEXT and what prompted me to comment is the spools. when i was a child, maybe 5 or so, one of these spools WAS my big Christmas gift from santa. my dad worked for the electric company and brought one home. sanded it, stained it, and mom covered one end in funky trendy contact paper of 1980 and it was THE MOST AWESOME table ever. my parents have TONS of pics of me playing at that table! so - i'm with you, girl... :)
