so ya, here's what it looked like before. it was an unused pocket of space. we desperately needed hooks for the kids backpacks and coats. our previous method of storage is all the jackets crumpled in the dark, super narrow, hilarious hall closet. or jackets hanging on chairs. everywhere. every chair had a purse, diaper bag, coat hanging on it....respectively.

(the nail gun is borrowed but you an rent these inexpensively from your hardware store)
if you want to do this yourselves...just make a grid. the boards on the inside of the grid were slightly smaller.
you will have to do your will have to do your own math for the grid spacing on your wall, as every wall size will be different.

here is the hired help.
hired with garbanzo bean blondies. i know, i'm stuck on bean desserts. it's crazy how good they are--especially if you are gluten free. and a note on the black bean brownies. most people have said they are delicious but there were a few of you who said they were the worst ever. you must try again! they really are good. maybe don't over blend? i don't know. baking is sometimes weird...

here is a little treasure just for kicks. nato will call me in a minute and tell me to delete this picture. let the arrow move your eye...YEP! there it is. what project wouldn't be complete without a little plumber's crack-ola.

after we caulked and primed and painted it...heart explosion...dream fulfilled!
(use a good primer and paint with semi gloss paint or enamel. we used BEHR brand "off white" semi gloss)

the funny thing is it was so inexpensive. $60 for the lumber and $25 for the hooks. and it was really quick. maybe 10 hours of work? $85 for a complete, useful transformation.
we ended up adding baskets
and p.s. did you know any hardware store will cut your wood for you? ours is an old house with uneven walls, or this would have been awesome. however, each piece had to be cut differently.
so you basically have no reason to not do this project in your own home.

this rug is a sisal blend rug
the benches were from a random discount store.
those boots
and that back pack

ok one last little summary.

thanks, nato. you rocked this project.
a picture from instagram. do you love instagram? yes, so do we.
my name is jaminato on there if you want to be an insta-stalker.

our kitchen renovation on a budget but still using contractors is HERE
I thought the brownies were delicious--even my husband was impressed! And the entry looks FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteFLIPPING AMAZINGLY LOVELY!! I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love inexpensive yet highly effective projects!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I love best. the finished product or Nato's crack! HAHAHAHA!!!!! Seriously, this looks amazing. We did the same concept in my sons room, minus the hooks...and I really love how it turned out. This makes me want to do it down our hallway too now! Looks awesome!!!! Glad you got a project checked off your list!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, it turned out lovely! And lol at the plumber's crack :b
ReplyDeletePure perfection! Looks fab. I am a wood lover!
ReplyDeleteCute redo! Love those benches....where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteLooks INCREDIBLE! Love it. Makes me want to do it here...at my rental. :)
ReplyDeleteAWESOME. I'm totally jealous, as usual.
ReplyDeleteOh my GOODNESS! I absoultey positively LOVE this entry! The plumber crack is FUNNY...really funny, even though crack kills. Enjoy hanging purses and coats and backpacks!!!
ReplyDeleteRemember when I would come over and Lila would check out my purse? This is going to make it a little trickier to do that. Sorta sad actually. I'm going to come over soon and try it out!
ReplyDeleteThe board & batten look makes me swoon! Love it! Such a beautiful transformation!
ReplyDelete(my verdict on the black bean brownies - they were okay. my full of butter and sugar recipe still wins. but at least i tried!)
Oh, how I love this. We do not have any sort of entry at all or I would do this. All our coats and crap get stuffed in random places and I hate it!
ReplyDeleteI also have those same rainboots for my son and I have put the owl backpack on many an Amazon shopping spree but have no reason to actually buy it yet!
THIS IS AMAZING!! I love it! I love your whole entire house overall, but this is such a cool little makeover!! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is beautiful! We are in the process of buying our first home (squeal!), and I really really want to do this in the dining room. I've been scouring Pinterest for tutorials and telling hubs, "look! They did it too! Annnd they even posted a tutorial. For you and your dad." lol. I like that the top board has a bit of a ledge... I think we must add that.
ReplyDeletethree chickadees, we got them at a discount store for $15 a piece. i love them. i did ask nato to build me some rustic ones though. we'll see. maybe in a year.. ha
ReplyDeleteand kelly, i agree...the reg brownies are still better. just not as healthy. so i'll keep both kinds in the rotation for different moods. :)
I've been a long time reader and commented a time of two (so lame... what blogger doesn't LOVE comments?!) anyhow, I could NOT read this post today and not give you some major entry way love. WHAT A TRANSFORMATION, I am so impressed. Love how it brightened up the space, and of course how functional but easy on the eyes it is. Great job Nato's!!
ReplyDeletewow that is sooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome! your hubby ROCKS at handywork! wow! my hubby might be able to do it, but he probably WON'T! darn it!
ReplyDeletetara
Super cute! Good job nato!
ReplyDeleteAnd the brownies? Amazing. I'm totally serious when I say they were the best brownies I've ever eaten. Mat still doesn't know about the hidden treasures inside.
beautiful. just beautiful. one day, i'll get a mud room/hallway.
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I SO want to do something like this. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteOh! I really like what you did--it's simple, but SO handy and space-saving. Great redo-Nato!
ReplyDeleteit looks great! and those little benches are adorable!
ReplyDeleteUm yes. My name is Christine and I have entry way envy. Wowza! Looks great.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it. And we basically have the exact same entry way space, so Jacob may be getting a new project added to the list. Would that be horrible if we flat-out copied you??
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! We put up board and batten in our dining room and are really happy with it. Question for you: do you mind sharing what white you used? I am getting ready to repaint all of our molding and baseboards (umm...blech) and am looking for a good recommendation.
ReplyDeletewow! that looks amazing! way to go mark!
ReplyDeletebah! I want it! looks great :)
ReplyDeleteoh I'm in love!! Such an awesome redo!
ReplyDeleteWow totally cool re vamp!
ReplyDeleteThis rocks! Your husband has found his niche...doing whatever his wife dreams up!
ReplyDeleteWe just did this (similar) in our baby's room! Were your walls smooth or orange peel texture? Just curious :)
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely stunning! What a difference...love it to pieces :)
ReplyDeleteAhh! It's beautiful! So classy and tasteful. I'm inspired. Way to get stuff done!
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing and makes my organizational-loving-heart go pitter patter! so worth the wait i bet! :)
ReplyDeletei love this and may have to do this ASAP! I have a very small narrow entry way and I think this will help!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!....
ReplyDeleteand i'm already an instastalker. you know this.
I love it when I DIY turns out with everyone still loving each other and smiling! We usually ALMOST need marital counseling...something to do with this lady who lives in our house and likes to boss around the boy who also lives here during DIYs. When will she learn!?....
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that is gorgeous! I'm jeeeeeeelous! :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Good job, Nato!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I gave you an award on my blog today!
http://blog.billigmeier/org
Because you hung those hooks, I think you'll appreciate this:

check it out!!!
Looks amazing :)
Oh wow...that is gorgeous! I now need to move house to somewhere with an entry like that just so i can copy you and have this...it is lovely!
ReplyDeletewow it really opens the space up, girl! perfect for bloggers from wichita who want to enter the entry way.
ReplyDeleteI heart this. Fantabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! You've inspired me to do something in a much smaller scale, in my rental. Also bought beans today to try the brOwnies, can't wait !
ReplyDeleteI kid you not that this same project has been top on my honey-do list for a year or more too! I'm thinking beadboard though because I'm married to a "serious" woodworker who would make us do board and batten the 'traditional' way with panels and blah, blah, blah it would take forever. I'll link pics when it's done and we can smile about our matchy matchy entry ways ;).
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! You've inspired me to do something on a much simpler and smaller scale, in my rental. Also, I bought beans today to try the brownies, I can't wait!
ReplyDeletewell that's just totally amazing!
ReplyDeleteand i'm totally jealous that you HAVE an entry way.
way to completely rock that transformation.
you two are an amazing pair, i tell ya!
happy new hall day!
xo
mary
Amazing transformation! This makes me wish we had an entryway!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted something like this, but had no place to build one. Yeah for hooks, benches, and dirt catching mats! And your crew!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!! It looks awesome!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I've been wanting to do something like this in my hallway for a couple of years... this has lit a fire. I'm going to have to force my husband... as soon as he's done redoing our roof and siding. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Nato and Little Nato :) Boys and their Dads together are about the sweetest.
Giiiiirrrl..
ReplyDeleteLooks 'mazin. Go Nato go!
xo
Oh yes, this will be happening in my hallway like ASAP.
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteok, love this! Way to make it happen, we are all about the redo's too. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove it and are those lime green hunter boots? Toats awesome boots oh yea.
ReplyDeleteShut the front door! That looks amazing!!
ReplyDeletelooks great. makes me wish i had an entry way to make the hubs redo! haha. nato did a great job. and kudos to you for being so patient.
ReplyDeleteI love the whole thing! So cheap and adorable!
ReplyDeleteCan't stop laughing about the plumber's crack picture. Yep. Still laughing. Oh and the entryway looks great. Still laughing.
ReplyDeleteC
Good GOLLY this looks fantastic!! It's crazy how inexpensive & relatively easy it was for it to make *such* a transformation! Do you just stand there & stare at it for a bit each day? B/c I totally would. I can't wait to own a home that I too can nag at my husband for months and months to transform!
ReplyDeleteAh, who am I kidding. I nag and nag for months about his "honey do" list already. Glad to see my guy isn't the only one who take a year to complete a request ;)
Would you guys be willing to post a how to or a list of supplies (i.e. what size boards did you use)? I would love to do this, but I do not know where to start!
ReplyDeleteSince I couldn't find a generic place.. I LOVE this blog! Just found you and have been poking around for a few days - I also love your photography :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is BEEA-U-tiful! But I'm doubting whether it was really that easy...surely you've got to have some pretty nice handy skilzs? And love the wellies and those kiddo backpacks are the cutest ever.
ReplyDeleteah-may-zing transformation! he's quite the handy fellow, huh.
ReplyDeleteand, thanks - now i'm re-thinking the purchase of navy hunter boots. i maybe might be coveting (the horror) those lime green wellies. harumph. what to do, what to do.
holy cow, it looks AMAZING! and I love a transformation done on the cheap. well done, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Love how the entry looks ... where can I do that in my house ...
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh man! What an awesome, easy and inexpensive improvement! You've given me hope when I have a home to tear apart and improve on. Good work! Thanks for posting! :) You guys rock! Keep it up.
ReplyDelete-jules
HI. I read your blog often but never comment (i'm hopeless that way) Love what you did with the entry way...Looks fantastic! Even makes the space look bigger! , funny that. Well done :)

Beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteBest entryway in the history of forever! And, yeah, it's every kind of sexy when my husband does something I've been asking for for years!
ReplyDeleteI am so stalking you on Instagram. But just don't look at my feed or you might see some rather unkind things about a certain failed black bean brownie foray. Don't worry, Imma try em again. I promise!
oh my good and holy lord, this is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
ReplyDeleteUuummm, my hubby now hates you. I have another project for him. I LOVE you though! He will love you too after he finishes it and our entry way looks as awesome as yours!
ReplyDeleteLove this! Can I ask you what the measurements of your boards are (the width)? We are actually trying to recreate because we like it so much!
ReplyDeleteThey are 1x6 for the fat ones. And the smaller boards are 1x3's. The smaller ones are the vertical slats in the middle.
ReplyDeleteJami,
DeleteAre your baseboards the 1x6s or just our reg baseboards?
Thanks!
You can keep your regular baseboards or add thicker ones. I would say work with what you have if you're sticking to a budget!
DeleteJami,
DeleteAre the boards you used thicker than the base boards? The only thing that has stopped me from doing this is replacing all of the base boards. I don't want the batten boards to be thicker and hang over my base boards.
thanks!
Loie
Jami,
Deletethe only thing that has stopped me from starting a project like this is I don't want to have to replace all of the baseboards. But aren't your boards thicker than the top of the baseboard? Don't they stick out farther than the baseboard where they meet together? Just wondering as I have a mild case of OCD and if they don't butt together evenly, I would go nuts!
Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, it is so beautiful. And you have the cutest hired help ever. I will be copying this immediately. :)
ReplyDeleteNato needs to start a blog so he can post embarrassing pics of you. Oh wait...you post embarrassing pics of you.
ReplyDeleteEntry looks fab!
love it! this is exactly what i have been searching for, for our entry way - is the ledge just 1x3? or is it the bigger 1x6 you used?
ReplyDeletenice thing!
ReplyDeleteinstagram, yeah, so i'll stalk u everywhere... pinterest, instagram, your blog... where else can i stalk you? haha
xd
love love love. does nato want to do that for my entry way??? oh, and where did you get those benches??
ReplyDeleteNato is so legit! Way to go!
ReplyDeletei love it, it looks amazing!!
ReplyDeletethis looks straight out of real simple magazine or something!!
ReplyDeletelooks AHhMAZING! LOVE. i also REALLY heart your blog! i like to open it up and sit & listen to your playlist all day. you have SUCH great taste in music :)
ReplyDeletethanks!
xo
Amelia
wow--definitely a pinterest goodie! ha:) it looks amazing..really really..and i am just getting into the instagram biz--a fan for sure!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!! I liked that picture of your son... he's a star!!
ReplyDeleteokay, i'm not writing on here cuz i want to comment on your entry...which is grand, btw. i'm writing on here cuz i can't comment on your new post.(i'm guessing that's on purpose). resources and whatnot. it just reminded me of that song "lead me, with strong hands. stand up, when i can't. don't leave me......cuz i can't do this alone." you know what song i mean? i think it's call 'lead me'. anyways, it's along the same lines. if god doesn't take charge of the remote control of your life, you'll end up watching a fuzzy screen. or some show about old toy trains or something. i love that song, and i pray that each day. that i will allow him to do in my what he wants to do. and to lead my life. cuz i CAN'T do this alone. so there. my 2 cents. and again:love your vulnerability with this topic.
ReplyDelete........Jami, I'm tagging you in a post today on my blog. Mostly to encourage my few readers to read your blog, but it's one of those time filler entries where you answer questions and what not. I don't expect you to do the post, but one of the rules is to let you know that I have "tagged" you. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog SO much. Thanks for being so 'real' (for lack of a better term) and doing such a great job!
wow i really want to do this. i have wanted to forever... but i never thought to do it in the entryway. i love it.
ReplyDeletedid u rent the nail gun thing? can u tell me what wood u used? especially the top lip part. love that part!! and what paint did you use? high-gloss.
and yes i want to stalk you on instagram. oh how i love instagram.
yo merideth,
ReplyDeletejust buy some 1X6's and 1X3's that are smooth wood. it doesn't need to be stain grade because you're painting it.
the nail gun is my dad's. you can just use a hammer and small nails if you want, i guess. that's how they did it in the olden days.
the lip part is even smaller than the 1X3. maybe a 1X2.
we used a semi white gloss. the behr brand called "off white"...we primed it first though.
hope that helps!
well.. i can't talk about black bean brownies right now because you know.. in my 'state' that makes me want to be pukey. i can comment on a gorgeous entry way and a job well done.. crack and all. what's NOt better with a little crack really? :) and then there's the other part... the part where you get woven into this beautiful tapestry of grace.. the part where you shout his glory, and his faithfulness, and his love. well i love that part. thank you.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! I'm totally doing it to my entry. What colour is the wall paint? I can't do this till I figure out what colour my walls will be above and I've been dithering on that for 2 years now ;)
ReplyDeletehey great project and blog. Who and whats the title of the music played on your blog? I love it!
ReplyDeletethanks
OK. You/Nato made this look fairly easy. Really how easy was it for him? It's simple and charming and fantastically useful. We are going to start measuring for it today, but before we get int0 the midst of it I need answers. Maybe even from the man himself...--Abi' Creed Krulatz
ReplyDeleteLove your re-do. My comment is really about your next post on infidelity. For some reason I can't comment there? I just think how interesting God's timing is. I happened to be reading through Ephesians when I found out about my husband's affair last December. After a few days when I went back in the word again there I was in chapter 4...and vs 31-32 were there. Like they were written for me. Bitterness, anger, rage? Yep. Had that. Kindness & forgiveness? It was the moment when I knew that I had to stay and work through it...I'm absolutely sure that God was calling me to that. Now, 13 months later, despite a redeemed marriage that is actually better, there are still some really hard days. But I always go back to this verse. I love knowing that he used it for someone else in much the same way!
ReplyDeletehey kim, sorry for closing comments on that. i was thinking i should just leave it as a resource and not let it be about me. but in doing so, people had to email me and comment on other posts to ask questions or talk about what they were feeling. so that was my bad! anyway, there are some hard days for a long time...you are right. and i mean, even this far out, there are still some hard things to deal with! but praise God that you guys are together. that's amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And I don't mean the plumbers crack. Love the "welcome home" chalkboard.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! And Instagram! =)
ReplyDeleteRan across this on pinterest. Love board & batten. In fact.. JUST did it in our master bedroom. I was wondering what paint color this is? Above the board & batten. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteit was here before we moved. a custom color. just a basic khaki with some grey undertones. sorry!
DeleteThis is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! What a great use of space. It's gorgeous! We will definitely be doing this too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! You guys did an amazing job!!! Now to convince my husband that he needs to do this for our entry...
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to take the plunge and to try this! I hope it comes out half as good as yours did. It looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog and love this post! I am totally doing this in our new entryway. It is very tiny and needs something to make it a little more interesting than it currently is. This idea is affordable, easy, & makes a big difference! Looking forward to checking out the rest of your blog!!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog from Pinterest and this is one of my fav posts :) How do you think it would look with a "built-in" bench (I write "built-in" like that because I would have to make it and fake it!)
ReplyDeletei eventually want to do a built in bench! do it... and then tell me how it goes.
DeleteWe just got back from Home Depot with the wood for this!! I saw it a few days ago via Pinterest and had to do it! Our wall is 10' long behind our front door, so there will be 6 columns. So excited to get started in a few minutes! I had to get a few sheets of 1/4" plywood because we have textured walls and I want the smooth look or else it would look like wood frame nailed onto the walls I think.
ReplyDeleteCould you please share the spacing you decided on between your boards (and the specific size of the boards you used). I know you said everyone's walls are different, which of course is true, but the specific spacing you chose makes a huge impact in it's final look. I have seen many, many projects similar to this and yours is by far my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Danielle
the grids are 13 inches apart. the boards going horizontal are 5 and 1/2 inches and the vertical baords are skinnier at 3 and 1/2 inches. hope that helps!
Deletewhat brand is the paint and color?
ReplyDeleteit's behr brand, "off white"

ReplyDeleteIt's really super annoying to be forced to listen to music you like, just because I want to read a post on your blog.
ReplyDeletegregory, you are not forced to listen to my music. simply scroll down and hit pause on the music.
Deleteit's also important to realize that this is my blog. not yours. you are welcome to have a silent blog.
and one last thing, i am a real person. like a human, with feelings. perhaps you could temper your criticism with a touch of common courtesy and respect.
thanks.
rude, Greg, just plain rude =0(
Deleteenjoying your music .... thanks !!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of your music...what happened to it? It does not load and play anymore. I miss it! I often went to your blog and let the music play long after reading your posts, sometimes hours! Is there a trick to finding it again? Or maybe you would be so kind as to post your playlist? Thanks for a great blog. I love your style.
Deletebelieve it or not, mix pod shut down. i miss my playlist too! lol. i'll have to find another company that let's me do that. boo.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI just found this on Pinterest and was wondering what type of walls you have? We have plaster and I am wondering if nails would work on that? Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteUh oh I tried to comment and I am not sure if it worked so sorry if this is a double post!! I found this on Pinterest and love it!! Thanks for the inspiration! I am just wondering what your walls are made of? Ours are plaster and I didn't know if nails would work? Thanks for your help!!
ReplyDeleteours are plaster but those little nails go through the wall great!
DeleteHi, I found your blog through apartmenttherapy.com. My husband is on his way to Home Depot right now to get supplies to redo our entryway too! I'm so excited! I'll send you a picture of the finished project if you'd like. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI love your entryway! It looks great! Where did you get your benches? I love them! they are just what I need! I've been searching some simple, non bulky seating for my smaller entryway, and those look perfect! I hope they are still available, because I want them so bad!
ReplyDeleteThey were from this weird overstock warehouse thing for super cheap! Sorry I can't help you out on that!
DeleteI love your entryway! Where did you get those benches? They are just what I've been looking for. Simple, Non-bulky. LOVE THEM!
ReplyDeletethey were from a random discount store.
DeleteHow did you join up the wood trim with the baseboards? Do you have any pictures of the baseboard area? I would love to see it!
ReplyDeleteCaulking is your friend! We didn't do anything special. :)
DeleteLOVE your entry way and we are going to do this as well. Just wondering, what did you do with your light switch? We have one as well (same location). Did you have to relocate it?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your "how to"!
i just put a real wood light switch cover over it from home depot or lowes and we cut it to size! then painted it white like the rest of the entry and it blends right in.
DeleteWere the walls in your entry way textured? I want to do this to a section of wall in my house, but I'm concerned about the texture on my walls revealing the faux wainscoting hence making it look strange up close. From afar, nobody would be able to tell the difference.
ReplyDeletethey aren't textured! i think if you did this, you'd need to make sure the walls were smooth inside of the batten boards!
DeleteWere the walls in your entry way textured? I want to do this same sort of treatment to some walls in my home, but I'm concerned that the texture on the walls won't make the appearance look as "finished" as in your pictures.
ReplyDeletewhat is the name of the paint color on the top. Love the finished project!
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! Did you not have to remove your baseboard trim? What size boards did you use so that they matched up? My husband kept complaining he would have to take the baseboards off.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't remove the baseboards! Just used it as a part of the design. :)
DeleteThis looks great! Did you not have to take your baseboard trim off first? What size boards did you use so they would match up with the baseboards? I wanted to do something like this awhile ago, but my husband complained he would have to remove the baseboard.
ReplyDeleteWe just kept the regular baseboard on. I think it's a 1x6, but a 1x4 would also be fine! Or keep whatever baseboards you have and work with that!
DeleteWhat is the name and brand of the grey paint on top? Looks awesome!
ReplyDeletethe entry is a much more taupe grey. it was already here when we moved in and we can't find the name of it anywhere! sorry.
DeleteI've love the entryway! I just noticed I love the paint color in entryway as well as the rooms to the left and right. If you know off hand what colors they are that would be great!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the entry!!! Also really like the paint colors in entry as well as the rooms to the left and right. If you know the colors I'd really appreciate it!!
ReplyDeletethey are all shades of grey. the entry is a much more taupe grey. it was already here when we moved in and we can't find the name of it anywhere! sorry.
DeleteI love the look and functionality of your new entryway! One question though, do you have board and batten touches throughout your home or just here? I’m trying to figure out if it would work look-wise to do this is my tiny, smack-in-the-middle-of-my-house-where-three-living-areas-come-together entryway or if it would just look weird to have 4 ft of board and batten without any other in the entire house. Thoughts? Thanks!
ReplyDeletewe don't have it anywhere else in the house! i think it's a classic look that will look in place in any style of home. it seems like a huge statement, but actually, it's so functional and classic, it doesn't really scream at you. :)
DeleteJust was flipping through my April 2013 This Old House magazine, reached page 42 & thought, "wow, this looks awfully familiar". Yup, I knew I had seen it on your blog last year! Congrats!! Looks just as good in the magazine!!
ReplyDeleteThis great! Found you on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteKaren
You may have answered this in earlier posts, but i was wondering what type of wood you used? My husband and
ReplyDeleteI recognized how cheap you did this project for and were thinking it is pine...?? That would be awesome if you could let me know :) looks great!

How wide are the top shelf boards? We are getting ready to do the same thing, but I hadnt realized the shelf portion. Just trying to get an idea of how its supported and how strong it would be? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic and can't wait to get going on something like this for our entry. So needs some character and better function! Thanks for the inspiration and guidance!
ReplyDeleteHi Jami, Your entry way looks great, fabulous job. I would love to do this in my entry way but I'm not sure if it is wide enough. I was wondering how wide is your entry way? Also, how tall did you make it?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration!
Where did you get the hooks? Looks great! I just completed a wall in our office /mud room?
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the hooks? I just completed a wall like this in our mud room/office. You inspired me!
ReplyDeleteLove it, pinned it!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. Question..do you have textured walls? We have textured dry wall and my husbands first question was, "Did they have to sand down the texture". I'm wondering if you or anyone had experience with this? I would love to do this in my bathroom!
ReplyDelete
