decraytin' the tree and giving away something.

you know how i always say you should blog and tell your story? even things that may not seem important. or that may get no comments. or may be embarrassing. or may be ugly?

or that even if you do the same tradition every year and take pictures every year, you should still post? i.e. decraytin' the tree.
here we are again...everyone's a little taller! whew!

Photobucket

but these are our memories and this is our story. and it's good to document your life for your kids. and actually for you. because you don't sleep, silly. you'll forget!

Photobucket
(penelope was the first choice for the tree topper)

i've said, no more lost stories.
be a good steward of your families memories.
blaa, blaa, blaa.

well even though i've been a total slacker lately, i still believe this. on that same note, i still believe you should be commenting on your friend's blogs and encouraging them...hey! i read this! keep writing! your story is so important! instead of being jealous or rolling our eyes at one another. we say, look at the perfect mom over there...ugg...i hate her. instead of saying, awesome job being a mom!thanks for the ideas! we don't say that because we are self consumed. let us look outside of ourselves. and lets stop being jealous and mean. let's be encouragers.
Photobucket

so ya, i believe that. even though i have not even looked at people's blogs this week. and therefore have not commented. blogger forgive me, for i have sinned.
Photobucket
but i have really sometimes unintentionally and sometimes intentionally just unbusied my days during this month. and it's been really great. i am still working on being present though. it seems like days get away from me because i'm still stuck in overload busy mode...it's hard to break this habit. but i'm not really crafting as much. and we're doing advent stuff every night. i'm doing shopping online mostly. no lines and crowds. awwwwww....sigh....so nice.

i crave those Jesus-ee christmas carols. on our radio stations we get mostly the santa jams and how last christmas i gave you my heart... i want something more.

so ya, it kind of feels weird.

wait, it kind of feels great.

will i do this every year, probs not. so i'm just going to try and bask in this...or something deep like that. basking... meditating... reiterating... wait, that last one didn't fit.

so in honor of posting the mundane. the non-interesting to others outside your fam. and valuing the everyday moments.  i bring to you a modern day gift of myrrh and incense. in the form of a blog book giveaway. BLOG2PRINT is giving one of you a voucher for a blog book. the voucher is for $40...which will get a 60 page hardcover or 90 page softcover book.

Photobucket
(here's where nato brings out some tool that's extremely loud to cut the top of the tree when i'm pretty sure scissors would have worked in this situation. or sheers. or something that wouldn't ruin the christmas spirit of it all.)

the thing i love about blog2print is that it does all the work for you. you dont have to design it like the other companies...and although that has it's perks, it's way to time consuming for me. this program just sucks everything out of your blog and slaps it into a published piece of art. so gratifying when that baby comes in the mail. all your memories packaged neatly. put on a shelf to be read over and over again for years to come and hopefully generations.

so to enter this giveaway, you simply leave a comment repenting for not blogging more(ha) and saying what your favorite ornament is. yes. spill it.

i won't say you have to follow this blog to enter. i only want you to be here if you want to be here.

FYI, shipping for blog2print books is as follows if you're trying to order for a christ has gift:

For December 23rd delivery, order by 3pm (ET) on:

  1. awesome job being a mom! and a blogger! you had something to do with me starting a blog. So thanks!

  2. Welp, I love your writing style and have implemented the term "crafternoon." How fantastic is that!

    You're hilarious. Keep it up!

  3. Woo hoo...1st to leave a comment on a comment urging post. I agree, leaving love is so much better than reading and leaving a bloggers story, craft, etc. with envy or mean thoughts. Good points.

  4. totally posting a comment! i love the idea of printing out a book. hadn't heard of that site before, so thanks! i'd love a free one :) we had a book printed of grant's dad's caringbridge site and it is a-mazing. thanks for your encouragement.

  5. um...i haven't blogged a lot lately because we've been playing in 3 days worth of fresh fallen snow! granted, my snow gear doesn't fit my 6+ month prego self, but we've been having fun! my favorite ornament is tbd....we don't have them on the tree this year and i don't think i can remember them from year to year (let's blame the prego self again, shall we?).

  6. First of all what setting is your camera on for those pics? AH-MAH-ZING.

Second of all....I want to win, I want to win, I want to win. Did you get that?

I too have been a bad blogger and blog reader lately, but ya know tis the season right? I think it's ok to take a break from bloggy-land every now and then, it's good for the soul.

My fave ornament (I was confused if you meant from MY tree or YOURS) so from MY tree it would have to be these little paper handprints that the kids made last year because it breaks my heart how much their little hands have changed in only a years time and I am so glad I have that little hand frozen in time.

Come see me at my blog if you have the time :)

  7. {My parents gave us ornaments every year from something that happened that year=super special. For our first married Christmas last year, they gave my hubs and I little cowboy and cowgirl ornaments to represent the summer we spent at a dude ranch.}

This post is one more reason when I think you're the coolest. When my hubs and I have kids someday, I want to be like you (that sounded so much less cheesy and silly in my head!)! For. real.

  8. My favorite ornament is an antique-looking ice skate. It's my favorite because I love anything figure skating related. Skating and me are tight. Like...I probably couldn't live without it. And thus this love compels me to put this ornament front and center on my tree every year :)

  9. I can't even tell you how much I love reading your blog! Most blogs I just scan through and see if they have any interesting pics, but yours I have to stop and read because it makes me laugh, and think, and feel...thank you! My fave ornament is a carved wooden heart that my husband and I got our first Christmas together!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jami. Those pictures are so amazing. I love them.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love my "wedding bells"! My husband and I picked them out together on our trip to Austria a few years back and they're just so cute:)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Forgive me ;), heehee. Love the mirrored ornament with her reflection...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Love the reflection of your daughter in the ornament...beautiful shot!

I would love to win the blog book. I tried to make my blog into a book once with another service, and it was so completely overwhelming. This one sounds way simpler, and who couldn't use a little more simple.

My favorite ornament is one my mom gave my boys, and it has a real train that runs around a mountain and some little skaters circling on a pond. Love to see my little guys eyes light up with wonder as he watches it!

  14. Blog reading has been out... as has been commenting (since I feel like I'm in a fog and am afraid nothing makes sense this week) but my etsy shop is finally getting things in it! Give and take, right? I have also been trying to blog consistently this month. And I've done well... so far. Can't brag quite yet since we're only 6 days in.

My favorite ornament was an ornament I broke last year when my tree fell over. It was the one my aunt gave me for my baptism... an angel. Somehow my momma found another exactly like it on ebay to replace it. She's awesome like that.

  15. my f.a.v.o.r.i.t.e. ornament makes me all nostalgic. it hangs on our family Christmas tree at the parentals and contains a picture from my parent's wedding day...it used to play a song when you pressed it, but no more due to the 6 children my parents have!:) i love this time of year!!!!!!:)

p.s.-i also think you should blog more cuz you're hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  16. You've got the cutest family, the music on your page is awesome and where can I get those pink lounge pants?! Please answer back I want them every time I see them in your pictures! :)

    HAPPY HOLIDAY!

  17. ah! are you kidding!? that's a fantastic giveaway!

my favorite ornaments (we're getting wrapped up in the spirit of christmas here and going plural) (also... "wrapped up.." i'm on a roll)

anyway. they'd have to be the old looking santas, snowmen, and reindeer. remind me of childhood and gets me feeling all nostalgic.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Love, love, love reading your witty, transparent, and downright hilarious blog. thanks for sharing your life in a way that brightens mine. And my fave ornament...okay has to be more than one, its our collection of Christmas family photo ornaments, one for each year since 2000!

    ReplyDelete
  19. u rock. my favorite ornament is the grover/snowman porcelain one from like 1983. i love it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I just wanted to say that I don't know you, but I love you...er...I mean blog. I love your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love that you do giveaways without manipulation (which, according to the Holy Writ is as the sin of witchcraft). I also love how you encourage us to play nicely together and just like Greta, I too have implemented crafternoon into my and my mom and sisters' vocab.
I have been a naughty blogger because of the old new baby excuse. And my favorite ornament is my little german blown glass birdhouse...or the mushroom..or the cupcake fairy? I just freaking love Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I haven't blogged this past week because we've had the pukes at our house. Good enough reason? I promise to do better! LOL!
My fave ornament is a brass angel from 1978 that my parents received as a gift when I was born. I heart it.
And - if you want some jesus-ee music check out My Morning Jacket, "Christmas Must be Tonight." It is on their new iTunes session EP that came out today. such.a.good.song. and no santa.

  23. Magical pic of Lila's reflection in the glass ball ornament! I repent of not leaving more comments - sometimes I wonder if folks really read them - so, sorry. My favorite ornament is a green ceramic angel that I got as a child - she still makes me cry she's so beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  24. i've been a lousy commenter/blogger this month. i'm good at reading, just not at saying "hi". so, here's my "hi" and i think you're awesome and i love lila's hair cut :)

and i'd love a blog book.

    amen.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jami you're awesome. Actually you come up in conversation with my friends. One time I said "what would Jami Nato do?" (It's a different kind of WWJD) and then we decided you would just tell the good honest truth. and then I broke up with my boyfriend. True story.

Anyway, my favorite ornaments are my dads star trek ones that light up and have catch phrases. so cheesy, so my dad.

and FYI I'm also having a giving away this week! Not near as cool but also in the form of a book!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Great post! Looking back my favorite posts are the ones about our mundane daily lives... I need to blog about them more! And we started getting our blog printed last year thanks to YOU blogging about blog2print, so thanks :) oh and fav ornament would be our silver stars (we got 2 as a gift our first Christmas married).

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love blog2print! Haven't ordered anything because of cost, but I hope to be able to print my blog soon. I want my future children to know allll about their crazy mom. Anyway, my favorite onament would be all the ones I bought last year as a newlywed for our first tree! Don't make me pick just one!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My favorite ornament is the icicles from my Grandma's tree.

    ReplyDelete
  29. First, kinda jealous of that first picture because my decorating the tree pics came out crappy.
But I'll still read your blog and not be too gripey about you.
Second, favorite ornament is a bell with Snoopy on it. it says Baby;s First Christmas and it was mine. I loved it so much as a kid. It holds a lot of memories.
Cheesy Snoopy ornament is my fave, yep.
    Love from,
    Greta

I joined the christmas choir this year and that has given me my Jesus Carol fix!! So fun!

  31. Forgive me because I have been a terrible blogger!! But I do love ornaments and Christmas! My fave is probably this old school block ornament I just found of mine from 1981 with a k. So cute.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Your christmas tree is beautiful! As for shopping online, I'm ALL about that!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I would love to win :) Each year my husband and I give each other an ornament relating to something special that happened that year. Last December, we moved into our first home and my husband gave me an ornament with a house all decorated for Christmas. i will never forget that year because it was so crazy, but it was such a special Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  34. great pics and love how real you are! i recently got a few emails from some crazy people complaining about my blog and the number of posts about my family. so i quickly stopped posting any pics of my kids and my real life just to make them happy and keep my number of followers up.RIGHT! can you imagine people being so mean? i was shocked and quickly brushed it off...and posted a ton of pics of us:) so i think it is always true to support and encourage one another. blogging is such a personal thing for me such a horrible writer.

ok enough rambling...my favorite christmas ornament would have to be the one giving to us on our wedding day. great giveaway!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Woohoo! I need to make the time and start blogging back up again. I enjoy it so much but life got busy once the school year started and now I've been in a blog less funk that I can not get out of! Here's to changing that! Oh and my favorite ornament... Don't really have "one" but one that comes to kind is an ornament engraved with "my first Christmas". We were given the ornament as a gift at our wedding in July and it is so nice to reflect back to those special moments at Christmas time each year.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ok. you were one of the first's blogs I ever read and loved your honesty. When you talked about blogging for your kids and making it into a book form, it sold me..and i started my own for that reason. You are that treasure in the big ole' treasure chest. Did I say how badly I really want to win this!! OHMYGOODNESS I do! I can't pick one fave because I have issues with picking just 1 thing. So my faves are a set of retro/vintage gold & cream striped ornaments..love them.

    ReplyDelete
  37. thanks for making me feel better about my posts that are uninteresting to anyone outside of the family. those are actually my favorites.

so for the ornament(s), i get one of the handpainted ones from Pier 1every year for each kid and someday i will send them out into the world with a little collection for their first tree. i love them all.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I've still been reading your blog. Sorry, though. I hardly ever comment on other people's blogs. And I've still been blogging. Not always as much as I'd like. I just started blogging in Sept. I finally realized I needed to start writing stuff down if I ever wanted to remember any of my kids' childhoods. Unfortunately the first 3 years of my daughter's life is a bit of blur. And things are getting blurrier every day. So, I would love to win the book! Even though I don't have much on my blog yet to make a book.

My favorite ornament used to be this tiny glass nativity scene that we had when I was little. It broke a few years ago. I can't decide what my favorite is now. We have so many that bring back nice memories. Maybe the one of Big Ben, since my husband and I met in London.

    ReplyDelete
  39. thanks for sharing your heart again Jami.. and my fav ornament is one of santa and jesus or maybe the nativity we got a church not sure but love them both!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just have to say I LOVE your little girl's haircut!!! My daughter is growing that same cut out right now and I miss that little bob! But she's older now and wants braids and ponytails instead of bow clips and flowers all the time. : (
Also, I make my kids decorate their own tree so they don't "mess up" mine. Is that wrong???

    ReplyDelete
  41. LOVE your blog! Puts a smile on my face when you pop up on the good ol' Google Reader :) Fave ornament(s)??: our yearly fam pic ones - love looking back at the little chubbies (our kids, not me & my husband) growing up!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Honestly, I wish I did a better job at blogging. I post pics and brief descriptions but I am forgetting the stories, the details, the special moments that make those special memories. 2012 will be a better blogging year for me... I hope.

My fave ornaments are the ones my little girl makes and brings home from her Sunday School class each year. Those. are. priceless.

  47. Here I am - commenting and telling how awesome your family is. For reals, I enjoy reading your blogs so much. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it is my favorite. I actually wished you blogged more . . . but I get that you have a life and probably want to live it; maybe? ..... anywho..... I'm not even commenting to win the prize, I just want to tell you that everyday, when I go to blogger and see that there's a post "from the nato's" . . . I get this happy feeling inside. Not only are you hilarious (I've read every post and by god, you are hilarious. the video of the irish jig = CLASSIC AND PRICELESS) but you are an awesome mom, person, and writer.

    I swear I'm not brown-nosing, just encouraging! ;)

  48. good word, thanks for the reminders! :)

  49. my favorite ornament is an small, green ceramic angel from when I was little. I've always loved it.

and I'm hoping to get caught up on my blog so when Christmas rolls around, I can actually blog about Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  50. thanks for the reminder....i often feel silly posting the same things year after year...but do it anyway! i don't have a fav ornament...we only do balls, lights and garland. perhaps when the kiddos are older and start making super ugly communion cup ornaments we will have them. lol. oh...and obviously, i want to win!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love the idea of blog as book! & I definitely need to blog more... But I do enjoy reading yours!

    ReplyDelete
  52. i like to read your blog and i usually laugh. my favorite ornament is our red sox ornament (because danny loves it) and i forgot in america. shoot. i would love to have a blog2print book because i've become quite the blogger this year.... as in, i tell our story often, not as in i'm popular.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love blog2print! I print a hard copy of my blog once a year so $40 off would be excellent!

    I don't really have a favorite ornament!

    ReplyDelete
  54. haha great post! i love the realness you share, love it!

fav ornament, umm putting that star on made me laugh out loud, but penelope as a tree topper is quite awesome too, can't decide!

awesome give away! need this soo bad. i have 5 years of blogging I am trying to get printed through them, it will cost me like $600, so any help bringing this fee down is needed! thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. LOVE your blog, jami! the rawness is so refreshing...and i wish you posted more :). hope your holiday season is a blessing to you and your family!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Guilty as charged... I stalk so many blogs, but hardly comment. Ugh.

My favorite ornament would probably be the first one I got when my hubs and I got married! We were a 07.07.07 wedding!

    ReplyDelete
  57. My favorite ornaments are big ceramic balls my children painted when they were each about 18 months old. Love them!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I always think I need to write in my baby's book, or take more pictures, or write better posts... I just need to put something on the stupid blog and print it out! Thanks!

My favorite ornament is the Mickey & Minnie Bride & Groom ornament my Hubby and I got on our Honeymoon in Walt Disney World... yeah we're those people.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Awesome job telling your story! I soooo need to hear stuff like this on occassion, because it easy to forget sometimes the reason we are all blogging! Merry Christmas!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Your pictures in this post are great. I love how low light it is with the pretty lights on the tree but everything is still so clear. Kudos.

I feel ya on this whole sharing your life for posterity thing. Honestly it's been hard for me because I get so depressed that there are no little ones here yet to share for. And I guess that's what gets me down is that I see all these blogs with moms who talk about blogging bc of their kids. I find myself comparing myself to them and getting all depressed because the vibe seems to be "do it for the kids" when we want nothing more but can't have it. BUT I try to remember that what we do and who we are before our kids is still important to them, even though they're not here yet. I make myself do it bc my future kiddos are worth it and that life is worth sharing even now...and to stop frigging comparing myself to other bloggers! lol

    This here's real. :)

  61. Hi Jami,

Forgive ME, blogger for I have sinned. I have silently read your blog for months and enjoyed every emotion while doing so. I just haven't commented yet and I'm sorry for that. :)

Hell, I should blog more- that's true. Fave ornament? Probably the thumbprint reindeer joke-of-an-ornament that appears on my parents' tree every year. Its my thumbprint at 6 months or something and I just love it.

Hope you have a great Christmas season. Your blog and photos are a breath of fresh air.

    - Kelley

  63. You are an awesome blogger! The one ornament I really love is the one that my daughter painted this year and we put her picture in it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Love you blog. Read it regularly, comment very irregularly! My Bad!!

Favorite ornament is a tiny framed picture of the hubs and me to remember our engagement.

    I'll do better. :-)

  65. Omg died at the star part. Ours didn't fit either so hubby was out in the garage cutting and bending the star holder thingy until it worked right. I'm all "Hey! Don't ruin my $10 Target star!" My favorite ornament - anything super glittery!

    ReplyDelete
  66. You are so encouraging! Thanks for helping us see what really matters, and for calling it like you see it. Sometimes I don't even realize that I'm acting (or not acting) out of jealousy.

Oh, and my hubby would totally pull a Nato with all his power tools :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. you are awesome! my fav-o-rite ornaments are the ones my baby has made for me over the years!

    ReplyDelete
  68. love photo of lila in the ornament!!! so presh. my favorite ornament is a plastic one that i got in sunday school many moons ago...of the nativity scene. it is now "vintage" which makes it cooler. now pick me!

    ReplyDelete
  69. My husband totally did the same thing when he cut the top off our tree! Just HAD to dig around looking for the "right tool", even though I was convinced scissors would've done the trick...Ha! Must be a guy thing. ;)
Thanks for sharing this. I have been thinking about literally the same thing this week--decluttering life and my brain to really bask in the moment. It's so hard sometimes, but thanks for the reminder.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I'm all about the blog love. I too need to comment & encourage more. I know comments encourage me so much! Every year our friend makes us ornaments that tell a story of our lives that year. Last year said 2011 Dan & Laurisa & baby on the way. It is fun to see where our lives have been.

    ReplyDelete
  71. hi. i'm emily's (jdc) sister...she told you i love you. :) i keep slacking on blogging because...i don't know. it takes time. and i'm lazy. and my dumb sister got every creative gene from my parents and left me with nothing. ha. my favorite ornament is this one fancy glass grape bunch. just because it's pretty. how's that for deep?
p.s. i totally agree about commenting on friends' blogs. but i've run out of ways to say: "oh man, your kids are so stinkin' cute!" so is it nice that i just told my friend that her eyes are ugly compared to her daughters? thought so. :)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Husbands are so funny! And Penelope as a tree topper is awesome! I love telling my story through my blogs and being real! It's the best and I would LOVE love LOVE being able to have our story in a book! Vstraylor{at}Gmail{dot}com

  73. Ah, blog2print is awesome! I made a book last year after reading about it on your blog. So thanks! Pick me this year, puh-leeeze! I have not blogged a whole lot recently because i've been busy making Christmas gifts in my spare time. That is, nap time. But I DO like to blog and I'm looking forward to re-reading my blog in a book...full circle, there. Ya dig?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh my goodness. I have been HORRIBLE about blogging lately but I 'll go write one today (thanks for the encouragment!). We are newly married and moving so I don't have any ornaments at my home. My mom has an ornament some kid gave to her when she was a teacher about 15 years ago. It is a pic of his face in a snowman frame. Cracks us all up every year, and my sister hangs it right in the center of the tree:) Definatly my fav ornament :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. i AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS GIVEAWAY! MY FAVORITE ORNAMENT WAS GIVEN TO ME ON MY FIRST CHRISTMAS BY MY GRANDMOTHER. A LITTLE PORCINE ANGEL. I PUT IT ON MY TREE EVERY YEAR. :) HOPE I WIN!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I like your blog! And I try to comment when I can. Comments are fun :) Also, I really honestly truly don't have a favorite ornament. Our entire tree is filled with favorites. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My fav ornament is a picture of Bryan and I on our first date. His hair is almost as long as mine and he looks like Fabio.

    ReplyDelete
  78. My favorite picture in this post is of Lila's reflection in the glass ornament. I like the angle in which you captured it. My personal favorite ornament is one of those cheesy clay (or whatevs it made of) ornaments from the mall kiosk of a prego couple holding a baby name book representing Travis & I when were expecting our 1st miracle babe, Gabrielle. It was a gift from my bro and SIL. I would love to schedule a "date" to get together and view your completed blog books. I'm so hesitant to commit when I haven't seen one in person. I'm in desperate need to print our blog story ASAP as I haven't done so since I began it :(
Let me know if you would be up for getting together soon!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Jami....I'm a horrible commenter, just horrible. But,I can always get better. Anyways, love seeing Penelope in the little hat I made and I told my husband that I wanted my blog in a book for Christmas...so this would be a Merry Christmas to me if I got that chance. :) We are going to be at Redeemer for the 5pm Christmas Eve service...will you be there?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well...I probably can't win because I don't have a blog link and I'm not just dangling the e-mail out there for the world :) My memory-keeping method of choice has been scrapbooking. But I have to say that I have fallen behind (like um...over 2 years!) Blogging would definitely be easier but I love the personal touch of scrapping. It is one of the only "crafty" things that I am somewhat decent at!

I don't think I can pick a favorite ornament-almost all have a memory attached to them!!

  81. i love reading your blog. i started reading about a year ago...but have never left a comment {forgive me}! I too, do not blog nearly enough. I have been wanting a blog book forever, but have never got around to making one :( Winning this would be a great motivator!!!

  82. Thanks for the reminder. And I'm an avid blogger- my husband would say a little too much but he loves to look back through my blog just as much as I do.

I would love to start making my blog into a book! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

And my favorite ornament? All of them! We got the whole set from Pier one the year we got married. I keep threatening to get a new set to rotate with but I just love the memories that come with our original set! We will be married 10 years in a few days. Good times in deed!

  83. When life gets busy, my blog is one of the very first things to suffer...oy if you look at my blog, you can tell my life is busy. :(

My favorite ornament is the one I got when I was 3 years old. It has a 1, 2 and 3 with little animals hanging off of them...so sweet!

I wanted to let you know about k-love. It's Christian radio station and you can listen online (klove.com) and right now they have their own online christmas radio station...I wonder if they might have less of the secular and more of the hymns...just a thought. I haven't listened to it yet since my husband ***hates*** Christmas music and might murder me if I turned it on! Just kidding...sort of. :) Thanks for a great giveaway! xoxo

  84. My favorite ornament is a burlap stocking with a Christmas tree painted in the middle. It beautiful yet rustic!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I did this post fall from heaven? I am chatting with their help desk now. Like as in this second. And my favorite ornament isn't an ornament, it's an idea I stole from you. We sliced a lil piece of our tree : ) thanks for the idea.

    ReplyDelete
  86. i love reading your blog, jami! you inspire me to be real and to continue being the mom i'm meant to be and having fun with my minis. thank you!!! my favorite ornament is a hideous one that my husband i got for our first christmas together...we didn't want to spend much so we puffy painted on a cheap one. classy? no. memorable? definitely. thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Finally, the give away I've been waiting for! :) I actually ordered two years worth of books last week. But I'll need to print this year's posts next month, so I'd love to win! My favorite ornament: the Kansas ornament my uncle gave me last year. I'm a KS girl at heart! Means even more now that we moved...

    ReplyDelete
  88. Jami! As usual love your blog! I've been trying to be better...you are definitely my blogging inspiration. i am blogging our adoption story so i'm excited to hear about blog2print..eventually i want to turn our story into a book for our bambino to hang onto! and i want to never forget every little and big thing God is doing and has done in our story.

favorite ornament...i have many...the ornaments jer bought our first Christmas when we had ZERO dollars but also nothing to decorate our charlie brown tree with..won't ever forget opening those...and the ornaments my great grandma left for me just b/c she knew i loved them.

oh and jer has one of those saws everything tools he loves to get out...so noisy! have a great HOLIDAY! =)

  89. For the amount of blogs in my reader, my comments are lacking... I vow to do better. And I would do a whole heck of a lot better if my 6 month old would just sleep through the night- I'm positive that's my problem.

As for the book, that would be ah-mazing. Especially since this was one of my birthday gifts I was supposed to receive over a year ago, except I didn't. I received a sweet card from my husband telling me this was his gift to me but I never got it. Poor guy must have gotten too bogged down in the editing... um yeah, or it was just the thought that counted, or so he thought. So this would be great. I could redeem my year old birthday present!

And favorite ornament: all of the ones my sentimental mom gets every year of our first home with our address, the elementary school I taught at, our family last year and my "person" with the big ole baby bump since I was pregnant. Love them!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I stumbled upon your blog about a year ago and I am completely addicted to it! You are too funny and your photos are fabulous! I always look forward to your updates.

My favorite ornament, this afternoon, is the silver H. I got it the first year my husband and I got married (our last name starts with H, of course). It always seems to get the most prominent spot on the tree.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I've been saying I'm going to turn my blog into a book for freaking ever... maybe if it was free (or cheaper) I'd actually do it!

Lately I think I've been pretty good at blogging. My floors are dirtier, and the only meals I make come out of a crockpot, but I've managed to write down lots of little Ryann stories. That makes me happier than clean floors!

I have a white owl ornament with rhinestone eyes. It rocks my socks off :).

    ReplyDelete
  92. i repent. it's been like 3 weeks. unacceptable.

ok so my favorite ornament is a felt mushroom. i don't know why, i guess because it makes me feel like a hippie. anyway, thanks for the annual kick in the a.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Blogged yesterday!--phew!

My favorite ornament is a Willow Tree Angel's Embrace ornament my mom bought for me a few years ago! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I am terrible at posting lately, but I do try to comment often. Somedays are better than others! I love the idea of printing my blog, much easier than doing it myself!

    ReplyDelete
  95. How the heck do you happen to blog about things that I am feeling at the moment? I haven't been blogging as much as I would like and I sure haven't been commenting like I used to because my heart just isn't in it. I've just been a blog-stalker the past few months. Thanks for the words -o- encouragement! My favorite ornament is more of a decoration...a life size red bird that is clipped onto a branch where it looks like it is just chillin, watching everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  96. What a lovely post! My favorite ornament would be this semi-gaudy conch shell one that my husband and I bought on our honeymoon. It matches nothing but makes me oh so happy. :)

Thank you for the chance to win! I've been dying for a blog book!

    ReplyDelete
  97. My favorite ornament is from a long time ago... it is a baby reindeer tucked into a shell that is supposed to look like a bed. I will have to steal it from my mom if i want to end up with it though.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeh, I suck at blogging. Thanks for the reminder. Ugh.

My favorite ornament is a pair of ceramic booties from my daughters first Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Well thanks a LOT for making me feel guilty. I hate you. Not really.

My favorite ornament is not one, but several. We have these disco ball ornaments that Justin and I bought our first Christmas together. It always reminds me of how we had absolutely nothing but still had a great Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Your tree and decorators look lovely.
I recently heard of those blog books--so tempting. Maybe I'll suggest one of those for me for Mother's Day!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Hmmm...I think my favorite ornament is one my mom handed down to me - it's a little stuffed ornament with "God Jul" stitched on it.

    ReplyDelete
  102. i just wanted to tell you that i kind of love your family (knowing yall via this blog..don't think about the creepiness just love it) and this blog and how real it is. uhh i am not commenting to win cause i just started my blog, which was started to have a record of my memories btdubss, thanks to yourself. and yeah thats pretty much it. alright cool. keep it up.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I am pretty much a die hard blogger like yourself.. even though i have few followers, I do it for the memories mostly. I have been wanting to make my blog into a book for a couple years now, and the longer I wait the more expensive it seems to get.

anyhow. My favorite ornament are the photos of my kids I put clear glass bulbs with their "kids say the darndest things" kind of sayings (I have a 4, 3, and 18 month old so it's pretty funny stuff). They are the best thing to unwrap as the years go on...

Love your family "mundane" posts - if that's what you call mundane. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  104. I've emailed you once but never commented on your blog! LOVE your blog! it's so "real" - love the honesty. I've never had mean thoughts towards you, BTW. Love your photos too. I'd love a blog book! I haven't been so great at blogging lately - something about caring for kiddos, keeping up with the house, etc. But it would great to show the boys something like a blog book someday.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Remember that time last Christmas you posted about a blog book? Well, ever since then I have been wanting to make one..but haven't done it. I need to do that ASAP!! I think it'll be fun when our future kiddos can read and we can sit with them on the couch and laugh at how silly we were before we had kids. (Does that even make sense?) I mean, we don't have kids now..but we will one day. ANYWAY,

    I hope I win!

Thanks for always making me laugh. :)

My favorite ornament would have to be a talking pickle my husband got me last Christmas. I love pickles...like it's probably unhealthy how many pickles I eat.

So he got me a pickle ornament. and a 5 gallon bucket of 'em.

    hehe...

    ReplyDelete
  106. awesome job being a mom! And thanks for the ideas!
I like reading your blog because it often makes me l-o-l, or at least smile :) I appreciate your honesty, photos, cute kids, and projects. keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  108. Love your blog. I get excited when I see you've had a new post. :) My fave ornaments are the baby's first christmas ornaments. I still have mine from when I was born and it's fun to hang it each year.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Wow! You have some of the longest comments I have ever seen! I'm a little intimidated...

I do enjoy reading your blog. God has given you a gift with words!

My favorite ornament is the gold carriage I received {not that I had any clue then} the year I was born.

Happy Christmas and my husband would have totally gotten out a tool like that...

    ReplyDelete
  110. thanks for continuously sharing your life with the world, jami :)

and for encouraging me to blog and tell my own story/write about my life-- even the mundane!

    your friend from ohio--
    ella :)

  111. we get a blogtoprint book every year for our christmas gift to one another...me and james...this year we sent all of thatmoney to our World Vision boy before I even thought to order it and it isn't in the budget. I will get it ordered sometime, but it sure would be nice to get the discount now so I can stay in the once a year at Christmas mode. I love my blog books. they are our only scrapbooks. love your blog too...and i am jealous, but i get over it b/c i am preserving memories for my kiddos too. just want to make more than i preserve. i need to slow down too. Merry Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have a three way tie for favorite ornament. First one is a little glass ball with a baby on it that I got for my first Christmas. Which makes my other two favorite ornaments the ones we got our children their first Christmas: a little "baby clock" and a baby in a peapod.

    ReplyDelete
  113. love your blog! i think i blog the right amount, but it always hilarious to see the followers i loose when i take a hiatus for finals week or something, werido don't know what their leaving behind.
my fav ornament is my first xmas one, i hope it lasts and lasts so i can pass it down :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. I read it I loved it and you inspired me to at least attempt to start blogging. I've always hated my writing voice so I'll see if I can try and just get past that :]. Miss you and love the photos especially the shot down low looking up at your son putting an ornament on the tree, magical.

    Love,
    Kimberly Mitiska

  116. Really enjoying your blog Jami...real people inspire me...thank you. I have to "confess", I love to read blogs, but am not so hot at leaving comments...something I need to change..thanks for the reminder. I love capturing memories on my blog, telling our story. I can not wait for my first blog book....with or without the giveaway...I'll be saving these memories. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

    Love-Lisa

  117. Mom's are awesome. I always tell my kids to try their best and that's all I want. Same goes for you Mamma! Try your best. That's all anyone should excpect of themselves.

My favorite ornament is one of those carved wooden ones. It has four little people carved into it representing our little family. It gets a front and center spot every year.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I have been a bad blogger for months...but I promise to change! I want to change, I really do. Pick me, Pick me, Inspire me to change! I have a pineapple ornament that is my favorite...random, huh!?

    ReplyDelete
  119. I love this giveaway! I'm terrible at keeping up with my photo books, so this is so something I need to try!
My favorite ornament is the one from my daughter's first Christmas with her hand prints on it (I'm a sucker for anything with kid hand prints).
    Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. I seriously need to do blog books. I think it is a great idea every time you say it.
My favorite ornament is a little baby carriage that is my "baby's first Christmas" ornament and also I love one that is on our tree that is a turtle wearing shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Your comments on the pics are HYSTERICAL! I think that if we knew each other outside of blog-world, we would be friend... I know that sounds weird and creepy and stalker-ish, but there it is, out in the open, for everyone to see... my sarcasm appreciates yours. :) Keep on blogging! :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. Totally random, i found your blog through some friends my husband and i met on our babymoon in may! it's encouraging to see another Christian woman be open, real, and claim the GOSPEL for your life!! Love your opneness about things, i've found myself reading your blog for encouragement with trust issues i have in my own marriage, and the pressure i feel to "keep it together" because we're in full time ministry with college students.
i haven't blogged much because we have a newborn, and lets be honest i feel not so good at being a mom, and i dont know what to write about..(yay! she pooped today finallly!..) , which brings me to my fave ornament on our tree- a little glittery peanut, with a baby face on it because we call maggie our little stinky peanut. or whiskery peanut. maybe i should make a blog post about that, ha!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I am new to following your blog...I LoVe your blog! You have such a fun style...I find myself smiling and laughing over many of your stories! Keep up the good work!!

  125. OK first, I have been waiting to print our first years blog...$ and all you know, hee, so this is an amazing giveaway, very generous Jami! Secondly, I love you and your blog, makes my day to see how cute, crafty, and funny you are. I repent for not blogging more, but my vagina currently has a baby's head in it and is very sore, haha. That's right I said it! Thirdly... I love the pine cone sparkle ornaments! Having our baby Monday, hope you can run by and see her sometime. LOVES

  126. My favorite ornament is one shaped like Michigan. It seemed kind of corny when I got it but each year that goes by, I am more fond of it. I haven't lived there in 12 years but it is still where my heart is. :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. I love the pic of your little girls face looking into the ornament - totally "benchmarking" (not stealing but kind of is) with our fan this year. My favorite ornament is cut from the Red Rock at the the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, AZ. Its a BEAUTIFUL church - mostly because its smack dap in the middle of God's beautiful and natural creation. So peaceful. Merry Christmas, Natos!

    ReplyDelete
  128. so funny! seriously you tell stories so well.

anyway id love to print my blog one day. my favorite ornament{s} are the angel ones i have for my two girlies in heaven. love to hang them each year!

  129. I must BLOG MORE, I must BLOG MORE, I MUST BLOG MORE!!! and i should leave more comments!!!

My favorite ornament is our first born's "first Christmas" ornament. It is simple but it just reminds me of how our lives changed forever when God blessed her in our lives!!!

Love you and your blog!!! Keep writing your story!!!

    ReplyDelete
  130. I like the new look to your blog. And the fur coat. And the pipe. It's all so debonair (Nick Jr. encouraged me to use that word today) Thanks for your blog. I love it! My fave ornament is a small woven mailbox circa 1981. And it says "1981" on it. It is ugly and has nothing to do with Christmas, but I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  131. My favorite ornament that hangs on our tree is a red glass mitten! I love it! I really must repent for not commening on other's blogs more. I always read, but usually don't let them know that I have. I need to do that...thanks for the reminder!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Ok, I was going to comment anyway but now I REALLY need to! Did you see my posts this week? I totally blogged about things that are boring to others but things I SO don't want to forget. I don't know what's happened to me but my view of blogging has completely changed. Probably because I'm planning on doing a blog book FOR SURE for 2011 so now I'm blogging things I want in that book! Cause scrapbooking has soooo taken a backseat in my life. Tear. So please, pick me! Or send me a coupon or something. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  133. I love your blog and your humor. I am trying to blog as much as possible but it basically gets done once a month or so. I do intend to get it printed after this year is in the books. My fave ornament is a gingerbread man that smells like strawberry soap. It brings me back to christmas with my grandparents who I miss a ton.

    ReplyDelete
  134. having your blog printed seems like a good idea. but i occassionally write stuff about my kids i probably wouldn't want them reading later in life. but i probably will.

my favorite ornament is probably the cheesy picture Christmas card in the shape of an oval that WAS an ornament from our first year of marriage. that was before i knew what i was doing. and it's always nice to remember where you came from.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Do I've been a blog slacker because I really didn't think that anyone cared about my boring husband less, childless life. Alas you've convinced me otherwise so I'll keep it up!

My favorite ornaments are a collection of little tokens representing a city that my sister and I have traveled to together, just us two. We've got a little red apple for new York, a red bus from London and so on. Because sisterhood is priceless and the memories make good ornaments :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. you totally crack me up AND make me remember what is important. Thank you.
my favorite ornament is one that the nurses made of my son's handprint when he was in the NICU before Christmas.

I really need to print my blog!

  141. Hi! I just found your blog via Wanting What I Have, and have already found myself both nodding my head (I'm a history buff, and think it is very important to record family happenings!) and laughing (the dollar store post below). I'll be back to visit again!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Jami, I think you are hilarious and so real! Thanks for your encouragement with being a mom! I have several favorite ornaments, but I really liked one that my dog chewed up last year, that my husband made in boy scouts when he was about 7 with his cute little picture on it. Sadly it's not on our tree this year!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Thank you for always being so encouraging.

  144. I just found your blog and I'm having so much fun looking thru all the recent blog posts:) Thanks for the chance to win a free blog book - how fun!! My favorite ornament is the gingerbread man made of construction paper from when I was in the 2nd grade:)!!!

    ReplyDelete
  145. I love reading your blog and the honesty that comes along with it - along with the sarcasm :) My favorite ornament is probably the one we just made with my 2 1/2 year olds boys hand dipped in paint and slapped on a red ball.

    ReplyDelete
  146. i don't even know if this giveaway is still open, but whatevs. i'm guilty of having dropped off bloggyland for a while now...thanks for encouraging me to get back into it. and my fave ornament is my mini starbucks red cup!!!
