double chocolate chip glory

seriously, i bake a lot. so ya, i'm going to post this recipe because a)i love them and you will too and b)mara will get mad at me if i don't blog the recipe like i said i would.

i will mention that these cookies have chili powder in them... and coffee, but you won't be able to tell. it just gives them this mysterious layer of flavor that makes people say, 'what is in this glorious masterpiece of chocolate heaven?'. no one has actually said that, but i can see it in their eyes. or something. also, just as a warning, i do not separate dry and wet ingredients. this is illegal for bakers, but it doesn't do anything for cookies. muffins are a different story. anyway...

double chocolate chip cookies

1 stick of butter, softened
1 tbsp vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground coffee
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking SODA
1 egg
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips

in kitchen aid, cream butter and sugar together. add vanilla, coffee, chili powder, salt and soda. mix on speed 2 until incorporated. add egg and mix. add flour and mix. then add those delicious chocolate chips. use ghirardelli if you really are serious about all things Holy and right in the world.
bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

and p.s. if you use margarine(a.k.a. plastic), you should repent.

  1. Bless you, my child, for posting these. I will be making these tonight. And my husband BETTER tell me they are every bit as good as yours (or better)!

  2. seriously going to make these once I can eat chocolate again!Whaaaa

  3. okay, those cookies look like crispy, hard little critters. i'm sorry. but tis true.
you know how much i love the doughy bad boys.

  4. no friend, you are mistaken. they are fall-apart gooey. i hate crispy cookies, but i do like my cookies flat...if you want more bulk, just add 1/2 tsp bakin powder along with the 1/2 tsp baking soda.

  5. i took the applesauce and oil off the recipe because i stopped putting it in there. really it doesn't need it. unless you feel like you added too much oil...then throw in a tbsp.
